Return & Refund Policy

Return & Refund Policy — HIM ART GALLERY

Last Updated: 02/09/2026

At HIM ART GALLERY, every painting is handmade and may have unique characteristics resulting from the artist’s individual technique and materials. Because many of our artworks are original and one-of-a-kind, our return policy is different from that of standard mass-produced products.

Please review the artwork photographs, dimensions, materials, description, and other product details carefully before placing your order.

1. Change of Mind and Personal Preference

For original, handmade and one-of-a-kind paintings, we generally do not accept returns or exchanges solely because of a change of mind, personal preference, or a difference in how colours appear on different screens.

We encourage customers to review all product photographs, dimensions and descriptions carefully before purchasing. If you have any questions about an artwork, please contact us before placing your order.

This policy does not affect your rights in relation to products that are damaged, defective, incorrect, or materially different from their description.

2. Artwork Damaged During Transit

We take great care when packing every artwork. However, damage may occasionally occur during transportation.

If your artwork arrives damaged, please contact us as soon as possible and within 48 hours of delivery.

To report a damage claim, you must provide:

  • Your order number
  • A continuous, unedited unboxing video — starting from the sealed package through fully opening it. This is mandatory and is the primary evidence required to process any damage claim.
  • Clear photographs of the damaged artwork
  • Photographs of the outer packaging and shipping label
  • Any other information reasonably requested by our team

Claims reported after 48 hours, or submitted without an unboxing video, may not be accepted, as we are unable to verify whether the damage occurred in transit or afterward.

What happens after a damage report?

After reviewing the information provided, HIM ART GALLERY may offer, as appropriate:

  • A replacement with the same artwork, where available;
  • Repair or re-framing, where reasonably possible; or
  • A refund to the original payment method.

Because many of our paintings are original and one-of-a-kind, an exact replacement may not always be possible. In such cases, we will discuss an appropriate resolution with the customer.

Approved refunds will normally be processed within 7–10 business days after the refund is approved.

For safety reasons, if broken glass is involved, please do not handle the broken glass unnecessarily when removing the painting from the frame.

Important: Return of the Original Painting Required for Replacement (Frame/Glass Damage)

Because each painting is handmade and original, we do not keep duplicate or backup copies of any artwork. If the frame or glass is damaged in transit but the painting itself (on paper or canvas) is intact, a replacement can only be provided through re-framing of your original painting — not a newly painted copy.

To receive a replacement in this case, you must ship the original painting (on paper/canvas) back to HIM ART GALLERY, so that we can re-frame it and send it back to you. This is a mandatory requirement for replacement, not optional:

  • Carefully remove the painting from the damaged frame, avoiding contact with any broken glass.
  • Pack the painting flat and protected (e.g., between cardboard sheets, wrapped to prevent bending, creasing, or moisture damage).
  • Ship it back to the return address we provide once your damage claim is approved, using a trackable and insured courier service.
  • The original painting must be shipped back to us within 7 days of claim approval. Claims where the painting is not shipped back within this window may be closed, and no refund or replacement will be issued.
  • We will cover reasonable return shipping costs for this purpose — details will be shared at the time of claim approval.

Please use a reliable, trackable courier when returning the painting to us. HIM ART GALLERY is not responsible for loss or further damage to the painting during return transit if it is sent through an unreliable or untracked method. We recommend retaining the tracking/receipt details until the process is complete.

We are unable to issue a replacement or refund until we receive the original painting back. If the original painting is not returned to HIM ART GALLERY, no refund will be issued for that claim.

If the original painting is returned but is found to be damaged, altered, or not in the condition it was shipped in, the cost of the painting will be deducted from the refund amount, and only the remaining amount (if any) will be refunded. The final refund amount in such cases will be determined by HIM ART GALLERY, at its discretion, based on an assessment of the returned painting.

Expected timeline: Since this process involves the painting travelling back to us, being re-framed, and then shipped back to you, the total time from an approved claim to receiving your re-framed painting is typically around 15 days, depending on courier transit times in each direction. We appreciate your patience during this process, given each piece is individually re-framed by hand.

If the painting surface itself is also damaged (not just the frame/glass), please see Section 3 below.

Minor Cosmetic Damage

For very minor cosmetic damage (e.g., a small scratch or chip on the frame that does not significantly affect the artwork’s appearance or usability), HIM ART GALLERY may, at its discretion, offer a partial refund without requiring the painting to be shipped back. This option is offered on a case-by-case basis and is not guaranteed for every claim; whether an issue qualifies as “minor” is determined by HIM ART GALLERY based on the photos/video provided.

3. Damage to the Painting or Artwork Surface

If the painting itself is torn, significantly creased, punctured, stained, or otherwise damaged during transit, please follow the same process described above.

Please contact us promptly and provide photographs and, where available, an unboxing video.

If the original artwork cannot reasonably be repaired or replaced, we will work with you to provide an appropriate resolution, which may include a refund.

4. Wrong or Incorrect Artwork

If you receive an artwork that is different from the artwork you ordered, please contact us promptly.

After verification, we will arrange an appropriate resolution, which may include replacement with the correct artwork or a refund.

5. Custom and Commissioned Paintings

Custom, personalized, commissioned, or made-to-order paintings are generally non-returnable and non-refundable once production has begun, because they are created specifically for the customer.

However, this does not affect claims relating to damage during transit, incorrect fulfilment, or other issues covered by applicable law.

6. Order Cancellation

An order may be cancelled for a full refund if the cancellation request is received before the artwork has been shipped, subject to any applicable terms communicated at the time of purchase.

Once an artwork has been shipped, cancellation may no longer be possible and the applicable damage, incorrect-item, or other return/refund provisions will apply.

7. Refunds

Once a refund has been approved, HIM ART GALLERY will normally process it within 7–10 business days to the original payment method used for the purchase.

The time taken for the refund to appear in your bank account or payment account may vary depending on the payment provider or financial institution.

Refunds cover the price of the artwork. Original shipping charges paid at the time of purchase are non-refundable, except where the damage, defect, or error was caused by HIM ART GALLERY, in which case original shipping charges will also be refunded.

7A. Risk and Ownership

Risk in the artwork (including risk of loss or damage) passes to the buyer upon delivery to the shipping address provided at checkout. Our damage claim process under Section 2 covers damage that occurred during the original transit to you, not damage occurring after successful delivery.

8. Colour and Handmade Variations

Because our artworks are handmade and photographed under different lighting conditions, minor variations in colour, texture, brushwork, line thickness and other visual details may occur.

Such minor variations are a natural characteristic of handmade artwork and are not considered defects.

However, if the artwork received is materially different from its description or advertised characteristics, please contact us so that we can review the matter.

9. How to Contact Us

For questions about returns, refunds, damaged deliveries, or other order-related issues, please contact: Contact Us page

Please include your order number whenever contacting us about an existing order. Once a damage claim is approved, we will provide you with a claim reference number for tracking purposes — please quote this in any further communication about that claim.

We aim to review customer complaints promptly and provide a fair and appropriate resolution.

10. Policy Updates

HIM ART GALLERY may update this Return & Refund Policy from time to time. The latest version will always be published on this page with the updated date.

Important: Nothing in this policy is intended to limit or exclude any rights or remedies available to consumers under applicable Indian law.
